Abstract
Robotic transverse abdominis release is an emerging approach to the management of large ventral hernias. It follows the principles of abdominal wall reconstruction as described by Rives and Stoppa with the goal of giant prosthetic reinforcement of the visceral sac. The robotic system allows for conversion of open transverse abdominis release into a minimally invasive procedure. In this chapter, we will discuss the anatomical details, technical approaches, and outcomes of the robotic transversus abdominis release (RoboTAR or r-TAR). © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.
