Examines the functions, impacts, and composition of the nonprofit sector for six key countries. Discusses democratic governance and institutional logics within the third sector; civil society, social capital, and the growth of the third sector in the United States, France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, and China; understanding associations and trust patterns; and global themes.
