Abstract
The study of biomolecular interactions is an important area of research, particularly when considering drug-protein interactions. Yet, it is difficult to identify a good starting point for beginners to read. This is the reason why we are writing this highly introductory text. We begin by describing the essentials of protein-ligand binding thermodynamics, followed by a description of how to select a binding assay. Following, we will provide critical principles governing some of the most prevalent binding techniques in drug discovery literature today, including a brief discussion on the pros and cons of each. We hope this will help students understand the fundamentals of the subject to whet their appetites, ultimately training them to find appropriate literature and resources for future endeavors. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.
