Abstract
This chapter deals with various types of semisolid dosage forms and discusses the methods of their preparation. Clinical applications of ointments, creams, pastes, and transdermal patches as well as their evaluations for quality are discussed in detail. The chapter pays special attention to percutaneous absorption and methods for its enhancement. Finally, the chapter describes the mechanism of drug release from a transdermal delivery system.
