Abstract

Arterial injury AVM rupture Intraoperative bleeding Nidal injury Venous injury
Intraoperative bleeding from an intracranial AVM can pose significant challenges to a neurosurgeon. Identifying the source of the hemorrhage is vital, as management varies drastically. In this chapter, the authors divide bleeding encountered during AVM resection into three categories: arterial, venous, and nidal rupture. They discuss the surgical techniques to obtain control in each category as well as how to prevent complications from arising.
