Abstract
In this chapter, a clinical case is used as an example to describe ways to understand the current practice of perioperative care plus how to approach and find opportunities to make changes based on value-adding or non-value-adding steps in the process. This chapter also describes the quality improvement methodology used in high-value care and demonstrates how evidence-based medicine is used to implement necessary interventions and changes. This chapter also discussed the role national organizations like the High-Value Practice Academic Alliance play in training future physicians in high-value care practice.
