Abstract
Since the advent of endoscopic skull base reconstruction utilizing a variety of avascular and vascular techniques, the ability to not only perform complex skull base surgery has expanded but has also allowed safe restoration of an otherwise challenging anatomic region of the body. Having a sound understanding of the anatomy as well as the reconstructive options allows the skull base surgeon to be proficient in resurfacing any defect in the skull base and take the appropriate steps to prevent untoward complications. In this chapter, we will elucidate the complex anatomy of the skull base while providing the reader with detailed approaches to performing a variety of reconstructive techniques.
