Abstract
Critical care nurses need a robust understanding of professional
nursing ethics and ethical principles and the ability to use a
decision-making model to guide nursing actions. This chapter
provides an overview of ethical principles and professional nursing
ethics. An ethical decision-making model is described and
illustrated, and recommended methods for confronting ethical
issues in the critical care setting are provided.
