Abstract
The Creighton University Sister School Project is a university-to-college partnership formed between Creighton University, a Jesuit institution, in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, and Mazzolari Teachers College (MTC), a Catholic Diocese of Rumbek College, run by Jesuits, in Cueibet County, South Sudan. MTC is a teacher education college focused on preparing pre-service and in-service teachers to teach for love, peace, and development. The Project partnership team comprises educators, students, and alumni of leadership development and teacher preparation programs associated with each institution. The aim of our specific Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Project was to work in partnership to extend resources that would assist with quality teacher formation to promote inclusive and equitable education for all. The Project aligns with UN Sustainability Goals number 4 and number 5 by preparing teachers to act as competent, conscientious, and compassionate citizens, thereby improving the standard of education and fostering inclusive and equitable education for all, creating opportunities regardless of gender. After working together for 2 years, our Project team has celebrated achievements in utilizing a COIL conversational model course, the Jesuit charisms, and a pedagogy of hope and has broadened the intercultural understanding of faculty, students, and alumni in the US.
