Surgical treatment of pediatric ovarian disease is shifting toward minimally invasive techniques with new, innovative diagnostic and therapeutic tools to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients. Pediatric ovarian disease has many etiologies, and surgical treatment can differ for each specific disease process. Understanding common causes and pathophysiology of ovarian disease can give insight to establishing a diagnosis and knowing options for minimally invasive techniques to treat pediatric ovarian disease. With a working knowledge of operating room setup, tips and techniques, as well as pitfalls to avoid, pediatric surgeons can have a successful minimally invasive approach to treating pediatric ovarian disease.
