Abstract
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks and their management remain challenging for skull base surgeons. The literature has demonstrated that there may be numerous practice patterns with which to successfully prevent and treat skull base CSF leaks. Management should be tailored to the cause of the skull base defect and patient comorbidities, and it should involve a multidisciplinary approach to achieve optimal outcomes. In this chapter, the role of CSF diversion in skull base repairs is reviewed, with attention to a range of proposed management strategies.
