Abstract
The English Lexicon Project (Balota et al., 2007) established the megastudy as a viable and important paradigm in cognitive psychology. Funded by the National Science Foundation, reading aloud and lexical decision performance (reaction time and accuracy) was obtained for over 40,000 English words across six different universities in the United States. Independent analyses have indicated that the data obtained is highly reliable. In addition, the data and stimulus characteristics measures are publicly available and have provided the data for many follow-up papers. The project data is available for educational purposes, novel hypotheses to be tested, and stimulus control.
