Abstract
Paradigms help us to make sense of the world. They provide us with a
set of assumptions about reality that predisposes us to ask certain ques
tions. In so doing, they help us to sort out the important from the irrel
evant. The downside is that while they help us to focus our efforts, they
also necessarily limit our vision. We are blinded to possibilities not sug
gested by the paradigm. As a consequence, there are questions that go
unasked. At the same time, there are issues that the paradigm addresses,
but only tangentially. These areas tend to remain underdeveloped. In
this chapter we look at these issues and questions.
