Abstract
Many of the 3D images in this book are color-coded. A standardized 3D color-coding scheme is used to help communicate findings and identify structures. This technique has been used to improve quick and efficient understanding of complex anatomy by surgeons, students, and other health care providers. Color-coded 3D images are particularly useful when demonstrating complex anatomy in patients. The color scheme has been derived from a palette of commonly used colors currently associated with the arterial and venous structures, such as red for the aorta, blue for pulmonary veins, and so forth.
