Abstract
The volume addresses issues related to the further spread of democracy in the current international system. Taken as a whole, the volume offets an interesting debate on future prospects for democracy. The contributions are divided into two parts. Those in part one, which address prospects for yet a fourth wave of democracy, are generally optimistic. In contrast, those in part two focus on impediments to democracy posed by globalization and ate quite a bit more pessimistic in tone.
