Abstract
This brief volume constitutes an essay on bridging the chasm that, in the view of [Bryan] (formerly, Univ. of the South), separates the guild of biblical scholars from those who sit in the pews. The author documents what he sees as the causes for this division, emphasizing the often-recondite conclusions of academic practitioners of biblical interpretation. Such individuals stand accused of leaning far too heavily on the hermeneutic of suspicion.
