Abstract
This new release of a work by the late sociologist Jacques Ellul provides a critique of Western society, especially the economic order. Using the biblical books of Amos and James, Ellul writes with the same tone as and assessments that are similar to those of his previous books, challenging the modern worldviews of scientism and capitalism, and the assumption of unending progress.
