Abstract
Recently scholars have given serious consideration to the role of international factors in democratization. [MARC Tansey] (Univ. of Reading, UK) contributes to this literature with a comparative case study of the effect of multilateral missions. After laying out a framework arguing that the outcome of the democracy project depends on the interaction between international administrators and national political elites, the author compares democratization in East Timor, Kosovo, and Bosnia.
