Abstract
The title of this book and its brevity-the text proper runs to about 150 pages-may lead potential readers to imagine that its subject matter is clear-cut or perhaps peripheral. Nothing could be further from the truth. This beautifully written (and translated) monograph casts profound doubt on attempts to simplistically characterize the terms Jews and Bible or to view the relationship between them one dimensionally.
