Abstract
Creighton University’s department of Journalism, Media, and Computing merged three years ago, and assesses each program independently. Since students in any program may register for a capstone course in another program in the department, assessment becomes problematic. How can one rubric be used to assess student projects from other programs? Is there a rubric that works for all? And if so, how do we train the raters? This poster presentation outlines the process that was used to develop rubrics for these three interdisciplinary programs. A number of student learning outcomes for all three programs were assessed using these rubrics, and program-wide and department-wide data were generated and analyzed over shared outcomes as well.
