Abstract
Background|Concerns regarding fieldwork placement have been addressed in occupational therapy literature. The profession is experiencing an expansion of new educational programs. Additionally, with mandate to move to doctoral entry level, more experiential placements are needed to transition from master's to doctoral level programs. Thus, it is anticipated that the shortage of fieldwork site placements will likely grow. Some anecdotal evidence exists about sites charging for student placements at their facilities. What is unknown is the prevalence of programs receiving requests for payment to place students at such sites and the context of sites that are charging for Level II student placements. The profession must understand the prevalence and context to introduce a "call" to understand the issue and plan for how educational programs will deal with the situation.
