Solo Librarians and Perceptions of Leadership Identity

Solo academic librarians often navigate leadership responsibilities without the structural support of colleagues, yet their leadership identities remain largely underexamined. This poster presents preliminary findings from a collective case study exploring how solo librarians understand and enact leadership within diverse institutional contexts. Using a national leadership self‑identity measure and in‑depth interviews, the study intends to highlight how solo librarians define leadership, how their work advances institutional goals, and what professional support they need to thrive.
