Abstract
This is the second in a series of smaller projects assessing the impact of the College of Professional Studies orientation course, CPS 200, on student learning outcomes. For this project, we are taking the results of the 2014-2015 Noel-Levitz Adult Learner Inventory (ALI) that was administered at Creighton, and comparing how students rated (on importance and satisfaction) questions that relate to learning outcomes in the course for (a) students who HAVE had CPS 200 and (b) students who have NOT had the course. This will include questions standard t the survey as well we items created for our campus needs, such as:|This institution provides students with the help they need to develop an education plan.|This institution offers strategies to help me cope with the multiple pressures of home, work, and my studies.|I receive the help I need to develop my academic skills, including reading, writing, and math.|I am encouraged to apply the classes I've taken towards a degree or certificate.|This institution initiates many opportunities for me to connect with other adult learners.|This institution explains what is needed for me to complete my program here.|I can receive credit for learning derived from my previous life and work experiences.|I understand what it means to be educated in the Jesuit/Ignatian tradition.|This institution provides me with accessible tutoring resources to succeed in my courses.|I am able to navigate the online library resources of my institution.|My core/major requirements are communicated clearly enough that I can select my own courses during each registration period.|The institution provides adequate technological support for me to navigate the BlueLine course management site.|Resources are available to prepare me for the type of academic writing expected in my courses.|I understand what it means to have a core curriculum that is grounded in the liberal arts.|I have opportunities to feel engaged in the Creighton community.|This institution provides me with sufficient writing assistance to succeed on papers and other assignments in my courses.|Resources are available to help me understand the counseling and mental health resources available to me.|The goal is to see where, if anywhere, CPS 200 is making a difference in student learning outcomes.
