Abstract
This interactive workshop implements the Stress First Aid (SFA) training within an academic healthcare setting through an interprofessional collaboration. SFA, originally developed for military personnel and adapted for healthcare workers, provides a peer support framework to identify and mitigate stress impacts before they impair health and wellbeing. Our interprofessional team of occupational therapists, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists developed and delivered SFA training to healthcare educators and practitioners at our university. Participants will learn the five essential elements of SFA, experience hands-on stress assessment techniques, and practice peer support interventions. The workshop includes case-based learning, role-playing scenarios, and development of implementation strategies for diverse healthcare settings. Attendees will gain practical skills for creating supportive work cultures, reducing stigma around mental health discussions, and fostering resilience within their interprofessional teams while contributing to improved patient care outcomes.
