Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine faculty attitudes about online education at our institution and to compare them with the national average. In addition, we seek to unveil the main concerns that our faculty have about online education. 152 faculty from our institution completed an online survey provided to us by Babson Survey Research Group that focused on attitudes and practices related to all aspects of online education. We conducted quantitative and qualitative analyses and our results reveal that while our institution varies in some ways from our national peers, there are also similarities. The main concerns our faculty seem to have center around the quality of online courses, belief that our institution is pushing too much online instruction, and unease over the lack of effective assessment tools for online instruction.
