Abstract

Disaster recovery Housing Social structure Studies
The present research explores the tensions between community and individual identity adaptation processes as housing needs are negotiated in disaster recovery. Narratives collected in a rural community reveal how the social and material structure imposed by service providers supplying resources was often at odds with survivors' familiar processes of developing place attachments.
