Abstract
Objective: To discuss the development, lessons learned, and barriers to full implementation of a community influenza vaccination program, utilizing the Vote and Vaccinate strategy.|Design: Utilize a community coalition to plan and implement the project.|Setting: A Midwestern urban community with an underserved socioeconomic population and low vaccine uptake rates.|Results: We describe the process of stakeholder and community involvement, as well as barriers that prevented full integration of the program.|Conclusions: Key lessons include the need for early planning, strong partnerships, and identification of funding. Barriers discussed include ethical concerns, a relatively short timeline, and access to influenza vaccine. This article contains implications for policy and practice to guide future efforts in community collaboration with Vote and Vaccinate initiatives.
