Abstract

Acquisitions Adaptive Capacity cross-market Health Care Leaders Health Systems Mergers
The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study is to explore the impact of cross-market mergers and acquisitions on senior healthcare leaders, focusing on their experiences, challenges, and perspectives. This study is guided by the research question: How do cross-market mergers and acquisitions in healthcare impact senior leaders in the acquired organization? Through this dissertation in practice, I aim to clarify the effects of M&A activities on senior healthcare leaders, particularly within the acquired organization. Although existing literature confirms the growth of M&A in the healthcare sector, there is a notable gap in understanding how these activities influence senior healthcare leaders. By addressing the gap, the study hopes to provide valuable insights into the personal and professional ramifications of M&A on these leaders, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. Keywords: cross-market, mergers and acquisitions, senior healthcare leaders, adaptive capacity
