Abstract
Despite advancements in screening, African Americans continue to exhibit higher incidence of colorectal cancer. A quality improvement study was conducted to increase colorectal cancer screening in African American Males in an urban primary care clinic through the implementation of evidence-based strategies (patient education, telephone call reminders, physician recommendations). This intervention proved to be inconclusive due to multiple factors, although the prospective participants agreed on receiving phone call reminders, majority of the participants did not to answer their phones, failed to set up appointments with the gastrointestinal clinic as well as deferred the procedure for a later date.
