Abstract
Pediatric asthma is the most common lower respiratory disease in children (Centers for Disease Control [CDC], 2018). Although national guidelines and standards for care have been developed, implementation of these standards has not been uniformed across pediatric offices and providers. The objective of this quality improvement project was to identify the gaps in pediatric asthma management, through retrospective chart review and implement a plan of action to improve the top three identified gaps in care. The project focused on identifying gaps in pediatric asthma care based on national standards using the Education in Quality Improvement for Pediatric Practice (EQIPP), through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). This program also provided a guide to develop a plan of action and implementation for quality improvement for pediatric asthma management in the private pediatric office.
