Abstract
Sleep is a key component of health. Adolescents admitted to inpatient psychiatric hospitals are sleep deprived and struggle with insomnia related to significant life traumas and ongoing illness. The purpose of this project was to implement an evidence-based, structured sleep routine intervention on an adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit to facilitate enhanced self-reported sleep quality on the ASWS and to increase awareness of sleep hygiene practices at the time of discharge. The project included pre and post-intervention measures of patient sleep quality as well as data about the implementation of the unit adoption of the nightly sleep routine group.
