Abstract
In a world embedded in pop culture and beauty ideals it is not an unforeseen concept that botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) colloquially known as “Botox injections” was the number one non-surgical aesthetic procedure performed in the United States in 2019. Available knowledge supports the utilization of patient reported outcome (PRO) instruments known in the aesthetic industry as PRO tools. These PRO tools assess a variety of concepts encompassing aesthetic neuromodulation from patient satisfaction to cost efficacy to mental health considerations. The literature noted an absence of a timely PRO tool that would efficiently evaluate cost, patient satisfaction and patient outcomes. The purpose of this quality improvement (QI) project was to utilize existing PRO tools in creation of a time conscious quick tool to clarify and interpret the evaluation of these intellects. A two phase pre and post injection survey was created called the functional facial assessment tool or FAST. The first few questions utilizing the FAST pre-injection screen revealed vital information perpetuating product order needs and improving cost efficacy. A culmination of the information retrieved from the FAST pre, and post survey acknowledge that 97% of respondents reported their neuromodulation goals being met with a 30% increase in self- confidence noted respectively. Recommendations include improving utilization of PRO tools in the aesthetic setting and further research in the realm of neuromodulation and mental health.
