Abstract
There are no standards of practice concerning the preoperative education of patients prior to bariatric surgery thus, clinical providers must be aware of a bariatric program's requirements prior to patient referral. Few studies have compared the duration of medical weight management (MWM) utilizing a comprehensive, patient-centered approach with postoperative weight loss outcomes. In a retrospective analysis, 47 laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy patients were grouped by their MWM regimen, zero, three, or six months. Descriptive, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression analysis results indicated the more months of MWM, the greater one year postoperative weight loss outcomes.
