Abstract
In the practical administration of secondary schools and colleges today, there is no more potent factor than the five regional accrediting associations. For high school superintendents as well as for college officials these associations set standards which must be met and maintained by their respective institutions. In the educational world there are aristocratic agencies prescribing certain standards and creating a desire, or rather a demand on the part of schools, colleges, and universities to meet these requirements provided they wish to command consideration among institutions of learning. |The United States and Panama are now divided among five regional associations, viz: The North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools of the Southern States, Northwest Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools of the Middle States and Maryland, The New England Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
