Abstract
The advance of the avian yolk sac over the surface of the yolk sphere offers a system exhibiting an extremely rapid growth rate with subsequent sudden decrease in this rate. To attempt.to understand the factors controlling such a growth phenomena, one approach is an inspection of the changes in respiration during early stages of development. An analysis of these respiration rates may give a clue to some of the underlying mechanisms for morphogenesis,
