Abstract
In the state of Wisconsin a school board member serves on one of the most powerful independent bodies of government. Who are the people who servo on the Wisconsin boards of education? How are they trained for their work? What do they think of certain current educational issues In the state? | To answer these and other questions, a survey was made of the Wisconsin school board member to study his education, occupation, and viewpoints on education. A questionnaire was constructed and submitted to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, an organization which comprises approximately ninety percent of all the school board members in the state. School board members names were obtained from the organization. After the Association's approval of the questionnaire, it and a letter of explanation ware mailed to all 2,3014. members of the W.A.S.B., and approximately 52% responded.
