Abstract
Catholic schools have at their disposal, through the Catholic religion, infinite resources for the formation of character. Religious doctrines, infallibly true, may be taught without apology and in limitless ways; the practices of religion are encouraged and respected; all that could enrich or enhance character is to be found in the religion for whose continued existence Catholic Schools are built. Yet, there is in spite of all this a discrepancy between the character goal and the character formation which is a result of the functioning of these schools.|Since the philosophy of the Catholic school is that which is in keeping with the nature of the child, and the religion of the school, the chief means of character training is God given, the discrepancy which exists between the character goal and character training lies in the application of the principles of the Catholic school, philosophy and the truths of religion to the child’s life and his daily activities. In other words, system and method of character training must be used consciously and consistently.
