Abstract
Since the discovery and the description of. the mitosis of the normal cell, the experimental scientists have tried to unlock the secret, of why a cell divides seemingly at a time of its own choosing, of what events take place during the division, and of how the natural course of. events may be altered by changes in the external and in the internal environments. In the process of research upon cell division, it was only natural that the. controlling forces of mitosis, should become, the case in point. | Later the discovery of abnormal cell mitoses led to the description of this pathological cell-division as haphazard, uncontrolled, and a fatal series of events., Research workers then began to investigate, more fully and completely, any substance and any device capable,of precipitating, of accelerating, or of preventing mitosis, in any living cell. Years of research and mountains of recorded data have.evolved, several theories of mitosis and many methods of approach to the common goal, anti-mitosis.
