Abstract
Little is known of the early history of Thascius Cyprianus, (born probably about 200 A.D. in or near Carthage) until the period of his intimacy with the Carthaginian presbyter Caecilius which led to his conversion 246 A.D. At baptism, out of gratitude to the holy old priest who had been the instrument of his conversion, he took the name Caecilius, and from that time devoted himself with all the energies of his ardent and vigorous mind to the study and practice of Christianity.
