Abstract
That there has been definite progress in the education of the whole child must be recognized by those who have followed the development of the school's program for some years. This is particularly significant in the application of the preventive principles of mental hygiene dealing with disabilities and maladjusted children. During the twentieth century there have been many basic changes in viewpoint in educational institutions, none being more important than the acceptance of the life purposes of the individual child as the center of interest. It has become increasingly apparent that what is taught is important only in terms of to whom it is taught. |This change in viewpoint has developed because of the increased understandings brought to educators by specialists in various fields of human behavior, for example, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of the teachers* adjustment as a factor in the development of children’s personalities. The psychologist, mental hygienist, guidance counselor, teacher, parent, administrator are all concerned with tins factor in the process of child education.
