Abstract

Cell and tissue migration is basic to the understanding of all developmental processes. However, migrational phenomena should be viewed in relation to several other components of development, such as growth, differentiation (histogenesis), and integration. Growth is a universal and essential feature in development including not only permanent enlargement but also increased numbers of component parts, e.g. cells (Berrill, 1971).
