Abstract
Shakespeare’s art has teen the subject oi intensive study since the seventeenth century, scholars have paid tribute to Shakespeare the lyricist, Shakespeare the dramatist, Shakespeare the poet, wo phase of his varied genius seems to have been neglected by the literary specialists. One begins to feel that at last the Shakespeare problem has been solved, and yet we find that the innumerable facets of his genius cast off new and intriguing lights. Following one of these, we shall consider Shakespeare from an aesthetical standpoint. |Aesthetics may be quite simply defined as the theory of the beautiful. The beautiful is a comprehensive term beginning with that breath-taking vision that "eye hath not seen” and flowing out in rhythmic progression to that infinitude of loveliness apparent in every part of the world, that created as well as that refashioned by man.
