Abstract
William Shakespeare, of whom Ben Jonson said, "He was not of an age, but for all time!" was, as is any author, a product of his own era. In his works are reflected the manners, morals, and ideas of the Elizabethan period. Readers of literature are always, subconsciously at least, very aware of references pertaining to their own particular interests.
