Abstract
The subject of this research is the Court Favourite of Kings James I and Charles I of England, George Villiers, the First Duke of Buckingham. Though he was the most powerful figure in England during the period from 1624 to 1628, perhaps his role in shaping the history of the English nation in the seventeenth century has not been properly appreciated. Buckingham is important in English history because it is in him that all the symptoms of the ills of Stuart absolutism are present.
