Abstract
The past decade has witnessed a tremendous interest in the study of brain biogenic amines. Their widespread distribution in neural pathways has led to the development of new research areas which attempt to discern the role these amines play in central behavioral processes. In order for biochemical reactions to be translated into complex behavioral events, it seems logical that the catecholamine, norepinephrine (NE), and the indole amine, serotonin (SHT), be found in neural circuitry. The frontal cortex, known to integrate abstract thought, and various elements of the limbic system are necessary for behavioral management. In conjunction with these major brain areas, both 5HT and NE pathways are believed to have consequential control over behavior.
