Abstract
This investigation was undertaken specifically to study the variation of the solubility product of ferrous sulfide in aqueous solutions of potassium nitrate up to a concentration of 1 molar. |Ferrous sulfide was precipitated by bubbling hydrogen sulfide through solutions containing known concentrations of ferric nitrate and potassium nitrate. The concentration of ferrous ion in the equilibrium solution was determined by analysis, and the concentration of the sulfide ion was calculated from the pH of the mixture.
