Methods: We retrospectively extracted data from a single academic medical center's electronic medical record regarding CTA use to diagnose PE. The likelihood of a positive study varied markedly among services ordering CTA imaging: emergency medicine 12.5% (n=24), surgery 16.6% (n=6), family medicine 22.2% (n=9), internal medicine 33.3% (n=21), and obstetrics/gynecology 50% (n=2).
