Abstract
Many measuring instruments used in management information systems (MIS) research have problems with reliability and validity. The use of an instrument which has these problems prohibits comparable and replication studies. This paper reports on the reliability and validity of the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use instrument developed by Davis (5). This study extends the reliability and validity findings reported in previous literature by using the test-retest reliability methodology. The perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use scales are analyzed for reliability using Cronbach's alpha, paired t-tests, and Spearman correlations. The results of the test-retest analysis, in conjunction with other tests conducted on the reliability and validity of the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use scales indicate that the Davis (5) instrument is indeed a reliable and valid instrument for use in MIS research.
