Abstract

Body temperature Evolution Lizards Metabolism Physiological aspects Regulation
Research has been conducted on the endothermy in mammals and birds. The hypothesis that this endothermy evolves as a thermoregulatory mechanism per se has been investigated via measuring the thermoregulatory consequences of the increased metabolic rate in resting lizards and the results indicate that the increase in the metabolic rate of the ectothermic lizards has not affected either their endothermy or homeothermy.
