Abstract
Superficial fungal infections are common, opportunistic disorders. The three major linea (ringworm) infections afflict the feet, groin and body. Although they are generally mild conditions, a secondary bacterial or candidal infection can exacerbate the symptoms and delay healing. There are a number of highly effective nonprescription drugs available for treatment. Patients need to be counseled as to the proper way to care for the infected area as well as the proper steps to take in order to minimize treatment failure.
